TRAVELLING PLACES – UNIWORLD CRUISING
TRAVELLING PLACES – UNIWORLD CRUISING
River cruising is something on everyone’s holiday bucket list. The age group this type of holiday appeals to is really wide. While most travellers associate these trips with couples and singles travelling, we also have family groups booked for the Christmas markets tours and northern summer holidays which include bike rides and kayaks! What is wonderful about river cruises is that pretty much everything is included.
Uniworld offers a unique version of river cruising, when I first saw their brochure, I was a bit overwhelmed by the lush décor on board the ships … until I sailed with them, and then I realised that these vessels are like floating boutique hotels reflecting the regions you are sailing through. There are exquisite original paintings (think Picasso for example), there are chandeliers made of Burano glass (an island in the Venice lagoon), there are local wines and local produce and the staff are wonderful. Uniworld employ their crew permanently; many of the other companies contract staff, so the Uniworld staff are dedicated, proud and loyal to brand. Their smallest ship takes an exclusive 32 passengers exploring the Amazon and most of the European vessels have a maximum around 126 – compare this with many other river ships that take around 200 passengers.
Most of us think Europe... castles down the Rhine, concerts on the Danube, wineries in Bordeaux, quintessential France on the Rhone or the Seine; the history of Portugal or indeed, unique to Uniworld, a week pottering around the Venice Lagoon. There is so much more offered.
Imagine floating down the Nile, calling in to visit the Valley of the Kings, the great temples at Karnak and the ancient pyramids of Cairo. Combine the Mekong with a stay in delightful Siem Reap to discover the ancient temples of Angkor Wat and try the delicious Vietnamese cuisine in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. India is also on the agenda combining a cruise along the Ganges with the Golden triangle bustling Delhi, the rose-coloured city Jaipur and Agra to visit the extraordinary Taj Mahal. Wander through the Peruvian jungle as you glide along the Amazon river – combine this with a visit to Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley and Cuzco... The names alone conjure up fascinating images.
Wherever you travel with Uniworld you will be pampered. Apart from your luxuriously appointed suite you will enjoy all meals, beverages and activities. Each day you are in port and every day, there is a range of included shore excursions to choose from – you may like to visit a chateau, hike across the hills or sample the wares in the local chocolate factory. The variety of excursions is wide to cater for all tastes.
Uniworld have some great offers available. Solo travellers pay no supplement, save 20% when you book and pay for a 2024 cruise, and for travellers keen to travel in 2023 save up to $3000 per person on select cruises.
