Column: Yoga under the Bodhi Tree - COMMUNITY, MENTAL HEALTH AND YOGA
One of the interesting things we talk about in yoga class is how we can change our reality by changing our thoughts and emotions.

When you start a body/mind practice such as yoga, the poses start to connect you to your physical body, breathwork starts to calm your mental body and the meditation practices teach you to cool and control your emotional body.

If you are persistent, you will notice over time that you can start to move from a very reactive life, where life buffets you from crisis to crisis, to a more proactive life, where you can be witness to the dramas unfolding around and you and allow yourself to momentarily pause, and then react as you choose fit.

And your yoga practice essentially becomes one of self-love. You realise that the investment of time and energy you are making in yourself has not only changed your reality, but has also had this lovely ripple effect on those around you: your family, your friends and your work colleagues.
