$100,000 GRANT “SUPER ROUND” NOW OPEN
$100,000 GRANT “SUPER ROUND” NOW OPEN
Applications are now open for Round 116 ($100k super round) of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. In each round of the GCBF there are always a number of successful applicants in the Scenic Rim thanks to the many hardworking volunteers who give their time and energy to complete the grant application process.
There are four funding rounds each year, with three of the rounds offering funding up to $35,000 and one super round (GCBF Round 116) with up to $100,000 of funding available.
If you plan to apply in the super round, carefully consider the one-round exclusion period. If an application has been successful in previous rounds, an organisation may be ineligible to apply in the super round.
To apply for the $100k super round visit: www.justice.qld.gov.au/grants or for more information and a letter of support, contact my office via email scenicrim@parliament.qld.gov.au or phone (07) 5515 1100.
Round 116 ($100k super round) is now open and will close at midnight on 28 February 2023.
AUSTRALIA DAY
It was great to attend events across Scenic Rim celebrating Australia Day on January 26. I’m always grateful to be at citizenship ceremonies when (quite often long-term) residents of Australia make the pledge to be loyal, law-abiding citizens of this great nation, and in return they become part of our nation that is ‘one and free’. Look around the world right now, especially to Europe where war has again brought death, destruction and suffering, and Australia clearly is in a very fortunate situation.
Our story as a country involves actions and policies of the past that were wrong. While acknowledging this, there is no doubt that our democracy, our prosperity and the opportunities for everyone to live their best lives are the envy of the world. Each of these things has been hard-won by generations past and we should build a stronger Australia for all with this legacy that has been handed down to us.
SCHOOL’S BACK
I wish children and parents the best as school returns this year (what an exciting time for kids, and parents too!), and look forward to catching up with school communities at leadership / school leader induction ceremonies in coming weeks. Remember to be mindful of the 40km/h school zone limit as we get back into the routine of school drop-offs and pick-ups. School zone speed limits have standard operating hours of 7–9am and 2–4pm. Children can be hard to see and may not be concentrating on vehicle movements before or after school, so it’s important that we take extra care at these times. I hope that the first few weeks back at school are manageable for our students, parents, and teachers.
